Hana Nelson
As an accomplished leader in the sustainable seafood and environmental conservation sectors, I am driven by a passion for promoting regenerative aquaculture practices and fostering positive environmental change. With a diverse background spanning entrepreneurship, executive leadership, and academia, I have dedicated my career to advancing sustainable food systems and addressing critical environmental challenges. My sustainable seafood journey began as the founder and president of Afishionado Fishmongers, where I transformed a small local seafood counter into a nationwide operation, championing transparent sourcing and promoting local, environmentally responsible aquaculture practices. Subsequently, as co-owner of ShanDaph Oyster Co Inc, I have led collaborative projects in regenerative aquaculture, partnering with organizations like the Ecology Action Center and Dalhousie University to drive innovation and sustainability in the industry. From spearheading expansion initiatives to fostering community engagement, my experiences reflect a commitment to driving impactful change and shaping a more sustainable future. Beyond my professional endeavors, I am actively involved in volunteer initiatives serving as a director for organizations like the YMCA of Pictou County, FarmWorks Investment Co-op and the Nova Scotia Aquaculture Advisory Committee. I am deeply passionate about leveraging my skills and expertise to contribute to meaningful projects that align with my values and drive positive impact on a global scale. Let's connect and explore opportunities to collaborate on driving sustainable solutions for a brighter tomorrow.
